FC Argeș Coach Bogdan Andone Hails Team and Robert Moldoveanu After Romanian Cup Victory Over Rapid
FC Argeș bounced back with a 2-1 home win against Rapid in Group A of the Romanian Cup. The Bucharest side initially took the lead in the 21st minute through Petrila, but the hosts turned the game around with two goals from Robert Moldoveanu (38’, 52’).
After the match, 50-year-old Bogdan Andone reflected on the performance and revealed his ambitions for a deep run in Romania’s knockout competition.
“I’m happy for the boys. I congratulate them for their attitude, their play, and I’m especially glad the victory finally came after two previous defeats against Rapid,” Andone said.
“It’s no secret that the way the players train has made a difference, especially considering it’s not easy to face CFR and Rapid just three days apart. We now have six points in the Romanian Cup, which is an important step toward qualifying for the round of 16. This gives us some peace of mind going into the end of the year.”
Looking ahead, Andone added, “We want to win the last match in the group. Finishing first would give us the chance to play the first leg of the round of 16 at home, in front of our fans, which would be extremely important.”
Andone reserved special praise for Robert Moldoveanu, calling him “a spectacular player and an extraordinary boy.”
“I’ve known him since his Dinamo days, during his youth period. He’s far from being an old footballer—he’s extremely young and capable of sometimes fabulous executions. He even scored the same goal in training, from a slip—that’s his method. He’s had huge problems with injuries, and it’s a miracle he still plays football and does sports. His sacrifice and effort have been rewarded,” the coach told Prima Sport.
