Bad news for Mihai Stoica. The president of FCSB’s board of directors has a favorite player from rival club CFR Cluj — but that footballer is not viewed as a starter by the Romanian champions.
Adrian Mutu (46) commented on the possibility of Lindo Emerllahu (22) making the switch to FCSB. Despite the Kosovar’s excellent display in CFR Cluj’s 3-0 victory over Rapid, “The Brilliant” is far from convinced.
Adi Mutu: Emerllahu is not ready to start for FCSB
Lindon Emerllahu is one of the names FCSB is targeting for the next transfer window. Gigi Becali is prepared to spend €4.5 million for a double transfer consisting of the Kosovar midfielder and Louis Munteanu.
Emerllahu arrived at CFR Cluj in February 2025, after the club paid €700,000 to bring him from Ballkani. At 22, he has already become one of Mihai Stoica’s preferred players in the rival camp.
However, Adrian Mutu believes that a transfer to FCSB would be premature.
“Emerllahu to FCSB? I would wait,” Mutu said.
“It’s the first match in which he truly stood out. He lacks consistency. In my opinion, he’s not yet a player who can immediately fit into FCSB’s system, even if the team isn’t going through its best moment.”
Mutu went even further, expressing doubts that the midfielder could break into the starting XI anytime soon.
“I don’t see him being pushed into the first team. What he does, Tănase can do very well, Olaru can do very well, and Cisotti can also do very well.”
The former national team striker also warned CFR Cluj about the risks of selling too many key players.
“CFR should keep its players. Even if, as president Iuliu Mureșan said, the financial situation is very difficult, if they sell their best players, they might not even reach the playoffs.
The gap is already big, and other teams around 6th place are consistent. It’s worrying for both CFR and FCSB.”
Mutu made these comments live on FANATIK SUPERLIGA.
What Mihai Stoica said about Emerllahu
In the current SuperLiga season, Emerllahu has played 14 matches, scoring 4 goals and delivering 2 assists. Valued at €1.3 million on transfermarkt.ro, he is viewed as a possible replacement for Malcom Edjouma, who is set to leave FCSB this winter.
Mihai Stoica spoke about the Kosovar’s profile — and the financial aspect of such a transfer.
“Malcom Edjouma is leaving, so we need to replace him with a central midfielder. Emerllahu is a central midfielder, no doubt, but we also need to consider the price.”
Stoica mentioned another example to emphasize spending logic:
“Bîrligea has cost €2.8 million so far. With VAT it goes past €3 million. He earned that money back through the goals he scored. Just this year, he scored crucial goals against Aberdeen and Drita that brought us a lot of money.”
